Recent commission for London’s WISH Interior Architecture using newspapers from 1906. The work will be installed in a building that was used for Winston Churchill’s first appointment in the UK parliament. We sourced newspapers from the exact start date of his role, Thursday, February 8, 1906, to draw a connection to this historical moment.

Rights, Rules, Relationships
Princeton University’s Dean of Students recently retired from her position after 39 years of service. I designed a weaving using the undergraduate Rights, Rules, and Regulations handbook along with personalized well wishes from her colleagues. This piece commemorates a vast list of her accomplishments, significant contributions to student learning experiences, and the profound impact she had on the Princeton community.
The strips of handbook text are woven into an 18 x 16” handmade sheet of paper. Her colleagues presented this during her farewell party and had all signed the back of the frame.
What an honor to create a personalized weaving for such an accomplished Dean! Best to you and happy retirement!
Flat Weave
Abstract mixed media paintings incorporate a flat weave using 1/8” strips of paper. Each piece is cut by hand and woven with the tip of a sewing needle. The works are inspired by personal significant moments and correlating emotions, relationships, and travel experiences.
Paper Thread Weavings
This small woven series incorporates a hand-twisted paper thread technique. The process is inspired by traditional Korean Hanji paper coiling. I roll each 1/8” strip by hand and weave them through the cut sheet with the help of a tweezers. Watch the process video here.
Swatch Series
These collaged and woven pieces were created with the help of painted book fore-edges and/or watercolor. Recycled books were coated with acrylic paint and then pressed onto handmade paper. The process revealed unexpected wavy stripe patterns and oftentimes precise detailed impressions of the pages.
