Date Due II
This library due date card weaving was made with 1/8” handmade paper strips (Korean Hanji) and recycled date due cards from Carroll University’s library.
Conceptually, my work has followed a pattern of documenting time and memory. This weaving is a historical snapshot of the educational experience – student learning, faculty research, and librarian contributions – at the institution. Date cards such as these are no longer added to library books, therefore, the weaving also captures the nostalgic experience of having a book physically stamped during the checkout process. Additionally, many of the date stamps within this piece correlate with the midterm and final exam schedules in October, December, March, and May.
